Tanga Pasi means ‘Starting from Scratch’, which is what we are doing here in the Kalanga-speaking western corner of Zimbabwe.
Tanga Pasi began in June 2009, when lead vocalist and song-writer, Sinini Ngwenya, gathered together a few friends in the dusty and remote rural areas around Plumtree. With not much employment or entertainment around here, Sinini decided to try and get the local guys to learn to sing and play guitars.
Tanga Pasi now has 7 core members, including Sinini, his wife Pamela, and friends Fatsani, Fidzani, Tangisani, Nicholas and Simon. We are currently practising, playing local gigs and working towards our debut album.
Tanga Pasi play Nu-Afrow music, which is a unique fusion of reggae, folk, rock, dance and traditional Southern African imbube. Nu-Afrow fuses western and African styles, rhythms and instruments. We hope you enjoy it!
